De una democrática lista en la que Viva la Vida or Death And All His Friends de Coldplay tuvo los mismos votos que el ultimo álbum de Portishead, y de la misma que The Pigeon Detective estuvo a punto de colarse en su top, salen estas 15 elegidos como representantes de la vida musical de 2008, al menos de la que más nos gusta a los que redactamos este humilde blog llamado INDIEcalling en honor a uno de los mejores albums de la historia de la música.

Espero que después del coqueteo de nuestra lista con el mal álbum de los palomas, y también a pesar de no incluir los ultimos trabajos de TV on the Radio o Sigur Rós, os parezca tan razonablemente adecuada como a nosotros esta, nuestra elección.

1. MGMT – Oracular Spectacular

El disco del año sin ninguna duda. Los de Nueva York han conseguido un album pegadizo, bailable, lleno de himnos, y sobretodo: innovador.
Goldwasser y VanVyngarden han mezclado estilos, donde guitarras y sintetizadores nos han regalado increibles temas.

Imprescindibles: Kids, Time to Pretend, The Youth, Pieces of What.

2. The Last Shadow Puppets – The Age of the Understandment

El talento y carisma de Turner se unen al buen gusto y voz de Kane. Un disco sorprendente, pop sinfónico digno de una banda sonora y del que nos gusta desde la portada hasta su última canción.

Imprescindibles: The meeting Place, Standing next to Me, The age of the Understandment

3. Oasis – Dig out your Soul

Los daban por muertos tras Heathen Chemistry pero han vuelto.
Los Gallagher crean el que algunos consideran su mejor trabajo desde Be Here now y Liam compone sin duda su obra maestra. No es ni mucho menos su mejor album y muchos no dudamos en negar que de verdad este al nivel que se le coloca, pero a estas alturas ¿qué más les vamos a pedir?.

Imprescindibles: I’m outta Time, The shock of the Lightning, Bag it Up, The Turning.

4. Kings of Leon – Only by the Night

Poco queda de los Kings of Leon de su primer trabajo, ahora mucho más maduros -y comerciales, porque no decirlo-, han publicado este gran album donde se nota que los Followill siguen buscando un sonido distinto y en el camino nos brindan un album con fuerza, algo de contenido político y un sonido que aunque se aleja del de sus primeros trabajos sigue teniendo calidad.

Imprescindibles: Use somebody, Crawl, Sex on Fire.

5. The Raconteurs – Consolers of the Lonely

Las guitarras de White y Brenson suenan increiblemente sucias y con más fuerza que en su primer album. El mejor disco de verdadero rock del este 2008 ha conseguido que muchos identifiquemos a White con Racounters antes que con White Stripes.

Imprescindibles: Consolers of the lonely, Salute your solution, Five on the five.
